The Abrasive Industry Grown Stronger

The abrasives and grinding tools industry is a fundamental industry, but machining has always occupied an extremely important position. Regarding abrasives and grinding tools, three aspects of improvement and breakthroughs are of great significance.

Firstly, improvements to the physical structure of grinding tools, such as increasing the number of abrasive grains acting on the workpiece per unit time, increasing the average grinding length, and increasing the grinding contact area, all change the amount of material removed per unit time and effectively improve efficiency.
Secondly, the application of superhard abrasives mainly refers to the use of superhard materials such as metal powder, metal oxides, or CBN as fillers, and abrasives made with resin, ceramics, or metal binders. Currently, the high precision and high efficiency grinding results brought about by superhard abrasives are widely recognized.
Last, new types of abrasives and grinding tools have emerged, such as micron-sized polycrystalline ceramic microcrystalline abrasives, spherical abrasives containing micro-diamond particles, and polyester film tapes for ultra-precision polishing. The characteristics of these new abrasives and grinding tools fully demonstrate their advantages in grinding processing.
Looking at the development of the grinding field, future grinding processes will place higher demands on abrasives and grinding tools. Judging from the current situation, superhard products precisely meet these new grinding needs. For example, CBN abrasives have good thermal stability, high hardness, and good wear resistance, so their grinding tools achieve high linear speeds, high grinding efficiency, and long tool life during grinding, making them particularly suitable for processing ferrous metal materials such as high-speed steel, bearing steel, stainless steel, and chilled cast iron.
